Love and acceptance found here

My partner and I went to the vigil for Christchurch folk and I was a bit shy to speak at the microphone, so I’d like to share my thoughts through this channel. I grew up in Eastern Europe under a communist regime where people of difference were not tolerated. The country was/still is full of racism, hatred and fear of anything different. For most of my life in the country I had to look over my shoulder for fear of being attacked. I had different ideas and beliefs about what the world should be like and that showed in my look, attire, haircut, etc. I have been beaten, my friends have been stabbed, people have been killed just for a different hair style.
