‘Every day’ remembrance in Featherston
With the approach of the 105th Anzac Day this year, it’s easy and forgivable to think New Zealand’s commemoration calendar is linked to narrow and specific time windows: for most New Zealanders, this is Anzac Day on 25 April and perhaps Armistice Day on 11 November. It’s equally as easy – and justifiable – to focus on the sacrifice of those New Zealanders who lost their lives in foreign conflicts over the service (and in many cases sacrifice) of those veterans who returned home.
