London calling for local actor
Three years ago Featherston’s Ashley Taylor never thought she would be interested in drama, let alone good at it. But now she is poised to tread the boards at the Globe Theatre, after winning a place in a prestigious programme which takes 24 New Zealand students to London each year. Ashley and fellow Kuranui College student Florence Cater are two of four Wairarapa students selected for the honour by New Zealand’s Shakespeare Globe Centre. The trip aims to give promising young Kiwi actors a taste of acting at the highest level, working with Globe directors, costume makers and make-up artists before giving two free performances at the famous Shakespearean theatre.
