Ā Mua: where trash becomes treasure
Another first for Paetūmōkai-Featherston! On 1 May 2021 this became the first town in South Wairarapa to have its own resource recovery centre. Called Ā Mua Community Resource Centre, this new facility has been set up by a group of volunteers working under the auspices of Featherston’s Own Charitable Trust with the aim of reducing waste and unnecessary consumption while promoting and enabling greater local resilience. As with Featherston’s Op Shop, which the Trust also administers, profits from the Resource Centre will be put back into the community by way of grants.
