A festival for all Featherstonians
Featherston’s Matariki festival is something to be proud of. This year New Zealand has celebrated our oldest and newest national holiday for the first time as a bicultural and multicultural nation, and it will be an entry in the history books. Here in the Wairarapa, our town led the way to whakamana this event – give it its due weight and dignity.
The festival took place over Matariki weekend from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June and kicked off with a kapa haka performance at ANZAC Hall on Thursday evening, featuring teams from our three Featherston schools.
