Moves underway to upgrade popular campsite

Concerned Featherston residents Ed and Sian Harcourt and Anne Hynds recently met with representatives from the Department of Conservation (DOC) to talk about the need to improve facilities at the Bucks Road campsite.
Possibilities for the site, which is a 15-minute drive from Featherston in the Tararua Forest Park, include an upgraded toilet or relocating and improving the existing toilet, as well as building a shelter and information kiosk. Residents have met with Sean Rudman (Senior Ranger, DOC) to talk about their concerns about the suitability of current campsite facilities to cope with growing visitor demand.
