Featherston has lost a modest but nonetheless important figure in the history of our town. Many older residents will have known Mike Beckett as a worker and owner at Beckett’s supermarket. Some will recognise him as the author of fascinating tales in Our Town and many other books, not to mention the regular articles he wrote for the Featherston Phoenix, exploring the everyday history of our district.
