Community Paints Up a Storm
Locals of all ages rolled up their sleeves in the FreshChoice carpark for Featherston’s Accelerator Weekend for the mural festival, helping bring a giant community mural to life, paint-by-numbers style.
The event kicked off on Thursday 23 July with students from Featherston School painting the first strokes. Rain on Friday and Saturday pushed most of the work to Sunday, when a huge crowd turned out to help. Thanks to them, most of the mural’s block colours are now down — the final details will be added on a weekend still to be confirmed.
